Scientist | Educator | Author
Welcome!
I’m Dr. Jenny Briggs, a biologist and educator who’s passionate about sharing science and raising resilience in many areas of everyday life -
from forest fires to food fights.
About
My scientific research and writing includes mountain and ocean ecosystems and animals. My teaching and outreach roles range from preschool to graduate school and beyond. Currently, I’m working at a university in Colorado, serving as a national IF/THEN Ambassador for girls & women in science, and leading two cool book projects.
I love exploring new places and questions in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) with students, families, and kids of all ages - including my own daughter, son, husband, and mischievous dog.
Book Projects
Secret Lives of Girls In STEM
Alongside my cool colleagues from the national IF/THEN STEM Ambassador program, I'm working on a chapter book for girls aged 9-13 who are interested in the wild and wonderful world of science, technology, engineering and math.
What do a female marine biologist, video game designer, ski engineer, virus researcher, and soccer team doctor have in common? Lots of secrets and stories from 5th-8th grade - and beyond - to share with curious readers!
Eat like a Preschooler
My second book project is more personal. It draws on my experience as a preschool teacher and mom as well as a biologist, highlighting what I've learned about healthy eating habits from hundreds of little kids.
I hope this book will help girls and moms like me break an all-too-common cycle of family issues with food, diet, and body image - so we can turn our energy toward other goals, and help to change the world!
